About this book
How this works
You arrived while the book is still being written.
That is not a problem.
It might be the point.
Chapters appear when they are finished. Nothing here is scheduled, and nothing is padded to reach a length. The sidebar shows what exists; the locked chapter is honest about the rest.
The book keeps a small amount of state, all of it in your own browser and none of it sent anywhere:
- Which page you stopped on, so it can offer to put you back there.
- How far through a chapter you were, as a percentage.
- When you last visited, which is how it knows to say something when you return.
- Whether you prefer light or dark paper.
There is no account, no tracking, no analytics, and no newsletter waiting to ambush you. Clearing your browser data resets the book to a stranger.
It also installs as an app and keeps working offline, which felt appropriate for something that spends so much time insisting it is a physical object.
